What Services does The Mod Tail offer?
We currently provide boutique-style doggy daycare, overnight stays, dog walking/visits, and basic baths (add-on only) all in a secure, home-based setting in the East Valley. Our environment is calm, personalized, and designed for dogs to feel safe and loved – just like home.
Do you accept all dog breeds and sizes?
Yes! We welcome dogs of all breeds with friendly temperaments and good social skills. Currently, we are primarily accepting dogs under 35 pounds to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for our group. A meet-and-greet is always required to ensure the right fit for everyone.
Are there ever exceptions for larger dogs?
Yes, on a case-by-case basis. We may accept larger dogs for longer overnight stays if they are especially calm, gentle, and well-mannered. Because we currently host a small-dog pack, we take extra care to ensure compatibility. All larger dog requests will go through a careful screening process, including a required meet-and-greet.
Do you care for dogs with special health needs or medication?
Absolutely. Our founder has a lifelong background in animal care – including dogs with aging, medical, or dietary needs. We’re happy to tailor your dog’s stay based on their specific requirements. Additional fees may apply.
What days are you open?
We’re early risers and weekend warriors–just like the dogs we care for! Daycare is open Monday through Saturday, 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM. A full daycare day includes up to 10 hours. Need a little extra time? No problem–additional hours beyond 10 are available for a small fee. Drop off before work, pick up after play – your pup’s day is packed with care, cuddles, and fun.
We’re closed Sundays for tail wags of our own (and a little reset time), but we may accommodate special requests depending on availability.
Overnight stays are scheduled individually, with checkout by 10:00 AM on the pickup day. Late pickups are welcome too – just note that a half-day daycare fee will apply if your dog stays past checkout.
Will my dog be crated during their stay?
Nope – at The Mod Tail, dogs are free to play and lounge throughout the day! We believe in plenty of movement, mental stimulation, and supervised socialization in a safe setting.
That said, we do have a mid-day nap hour, where pups enjoy a short rest in a comfy crate or quiet space. This gives everyone a chance to recharge, and allows us to prep snacks (for those who’ve added our after-nap munchies service) and tidy up from the morning’s fun.
Dogs are also taken on potty walks in small, supervised groups throughout the day. If a pup isn’t part of a given walk and becomes overly excited or disruptive, we may use a crate for a short 15–20 minute calming break to keep things peaceful for everyone.
Our goal is always comfort, calm, and happy wagging tails – not confinement.
Do you have a holiday cancellation policy?
Holiday stays are in high demand–and we reserve your dog’s spot with care. For all major holiday weeks and weekends, we require at least 14 days’ notice for cancellations on overnight boarding.
A 50% non-refundable deposit is collected at the time of booking to secure your pup’s stay. If you cancel before the 14-day mark, you’ll have the option to:
- Receive a full refund of your deposit
- Apply the full amount as a credit toward future services at The Mod Tail.
Cancellations made within 14 days of the reservation will result in forfeiture of the deposit, as that time was reserved exclusively for your pup’s boarding.
